INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Using a sledgehammer and a small ladder, insert the stake at a maximum distance of 50 cm from the tree or shrub and at a minimum depth of 45 cm into the soil. Once the wooden stake has been installed, wrap the jute bungee cord around the tree trunk and tie a first double knot on one side of the stake, followed by a second knot on the other side of the stake to ensure a tight fit. Please note that stakes and turnbuckles must be removed after a maximum of two growing seasons. Finally, stretch the rodent guard and insert it at the base of the plant to be protected. The protector instantly regains its spiral shape.

As a support for young or fragile trees, a tree stake plays a crucial role in their healthy development and optimal growth. A tree stake is a vertical device, usually consisting of a wooden or metal post or rod, which is installed near the base of a young tree and attached to it. Here are just some of the reasons to buy and install this 3-in-1 product:

Stability: Young trees often have a still-developing root system and can be sensitive to strong winds or bad weather. A stake provides additional support by stabilizing the tree, preventing it from bending, twisting or falling.

Protection from damage: Tree stakes help protect young trees from physical damage caused by human activities or animals. In particular, they prevent pets, livestock or wildlife from rubbing or scratching the bark, which can be detrimental to the tree’s health.

Straight growth: Tree stakes are often used to promote straight, vertical tree growth. They keep the tree in an upright position and prevent the formation of undesirable bends or oblique stems. This ensures a solid, balanced structure over the long term.

Reducing mechanical stress: When transplanting larger trees, stakes can be used to reduce the mechanical stress caused by handling the tree. They provide support during the recovery period and help prevent root or stem damage.

Promoting root growth: Some types of tree stakes are designed to encourage root development. These stakes support the tree while allowing the roots to grow freely in the soil, promoting better nutrient absorption and increased stability.

Biodegradable tensioner: Urbafor Solutions is the only company (that we know of) that offers biodegradable jute tensioners. Unlike many types of tensioner on the market, our tensioner doesn’t injure trees and lets bark breathe.

It’s important to note that the use of tree stakes should be temporary and limited in time. Once the tree is strong enough to support its own weight and withstand the winds, the stake should be removed. It’s advisable to monitor the tree regularly to make sure it’s developing properly, and adjust or remove the stake accordingly.
